The problem with freedoms is we have been educated not to have them. My daughter lives near Edinburgh and I am constantly amazed by the right to roam pretty much anywhere you like (in Scotland).
In England, we are "free" to walk on a mere 8% of the countryside, and fish in 3% of the rivers.
We think a bit of Dartmoor is just lovely.
It's worse in the USA, where the proles are banned from 90% of the Grand Canyon. 90%!?
That's not freedom, but it's why when the government tells people to wear a mask, the overwhelming majority meekly comply.
Agreed. People seem duped into believing that sovereignty only applies to either a country (an inanimate piece of land) or THE sovereign, i.e. some self-entitled, pampered, good-for-nothing parasite who is bowed and curtseyed at because they wear an expensive hat.
And either killed lots of people to get where they are, or killed lots of people and THEN changed their name so the thicko bastards they "rule over" don't know.
I was a fan of Independence and Brexit but that’s before I understood what being sovereign meant. I used to think our problems at a society level were about politics. At the same time I was 💯 in alignment with bodily autonomy. No one was ever injecting me before Convid started. The health part I was solid on. However I’m grateful in a way for witnessing the politics and the movie all operating in Lockstep and that’s helped me get better grasp of who I am. This scam has sort of been a blessing for those of us that have survived it sanity intact with a wider appreciation for how the world works.
I used to box and thought stepping in the ring was a wee bit brave but nothing like going to war, until Convid came along, and then found the true meaning of bravery…not wearing a mask to the supermarket and then when confronted to really man up and say, “I’m exempt!” is a meaning of bravery I could have never have seen coming! It’s been the most insane and embarrassing time for humanity. It’s going to take along time to achieve the change in psychology required to have the average person feel able to tell the government to shove it! The majority showed TPTSB, that for fear of the unknown and unseen, we will allow them to literally do anything to us, and all they have to do is play the movie again. Brilliant article by the way.
Your compliment will be passed in to Mairi. Thank you.
And yes, Covid certainly brought out a side I personally never knew I had, for which I'm thankful. It also made me realise why I and many others never did "fit in" all these years, and that that is something to be celebrated rather than ashamed or embarrassed about.
I was at a supermarket paying for my stuff and a security guard shoved a mask under my nose. I told him to fuck off and he said "I thought you might want one." I replied if I wanted one I'd be fucking wearing it already and if you think they work you'd better put yours on properly and cover your nose with it, you fucking retard.'
I had already had a bad morning at the hospital through not wearing one and I really wasn't in the mood for any more shit. 😂 😆 😂
Komrade Karney and his Circus of idiots are handing out Orders of Kanadastan to Hellth Ministers here. Meanwhile, Trucker Convoy participants are still in court costing millions in lawfare extortion money to lawyers. Not one broken window in Ottawa that February. Homeless were all fed. Garbage was cleaned up. This is called sedition in Kanadastan. Welcome to Clown World.
Thanks for your comment. Mairi is an excellent writer for sure.
The fact that any government was at liberty to destroy people in Canada like that is deeply concerning, and the shape of things to come if it isn't stopped.
The irony is that there's a lot to be said for "You will own nothing and be happy." Because if you own nothing they can't take anything from you. Perhaps that's the way we need to approach things from now on.
Sadly not enough in the right direction (I can count on one hand with fingers to spare). We were tested. The vast majority failed miserably….and the scary thing is that they don’t even know it.

Phenomenal writing Mike! I've often said vs SNP independence what they really mean is IN-DEPENDANCE!

I should add I’m still a fan of Independence and Brexit if not more so just not a fan of the associated politics of it.

This is true. Ive not had many friends all my life (63). Mostly because I can't stand the bullshit.

“for the greater good” still makes me feel sick.
"For the greater good", perhaps the most insidious motto ever created.

People clearly demonstrated whether or not they had principles.
It was the great reveal. We learned about everybody and a good few surprised us in either direction.
